Program Objectives

After successful completion of the course, students will be able to feel confident in these core competencies:

Medical Terminology

Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of phlebotomy theory, including anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to blood collection.

The Art of Phlebotomy

Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures safely and accurately using appropriate techniques and equipment.

Infection Prevention

Adhere to infection control, safety guidelines, and standard precautions in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

Communication and Customer Service

Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members, demonstrating professionalism and patient care skills.

PH100: Introduction to Phlebotomy & Ethics — 10 Theory Hours

Covers phlebotomy basics, scope of practice, and blood collection procedures. Includes legal and ethical responsibilities like HIPAA, consent, and professional conduct.

PH102: Anatomy & Physiology — 10 Theory Hours

Focuses on anatomy and physiology related to phlebotomy, including circulatory systems, veins, arteries, blood components, medical terminology, and patient response.

PH103: Specimen Collection & Handling — 17 Theory, 29 Lab

Covers venipuncture, capillary draws, pre-analytic factors, complications, special populations, arterial draws, non-blood samples, specimen processing, and point-of-care testing.

PH104: Special Collections — 10 Theory, 8 Lab

Introduces quality controls, delta checks, and pre-analytical variables, plus legal issues like scope of practice, liability, malpractice, and confidentiality.

PH105: Lab Practicum — 14 Lab Hours

Hands-on practice of venipuncture, capillary sticks, specimen processing, and documentation. Conducted onsite in the lab to meet certification skill requirements.

Yes, you will still have to take our phlebotomy course to test at our school. We hold our students to a certain standard, and we want to ensure you get the best possible training to help you pass the certification exam.
Yes; PruittHealth Institute supports to participants with job placement assistance and career opportunities within the PruittHealth network and beyond.
Students will be well prepared for the national certification exam administered by NHA. If you do happen to fail the exam, you may take it again in 30 days. Students can take the exam up to 3 times before they are required to take the course again.
The cost of your phlebotomy certification exam is included in your tuition at no extra cost. If you don’t pass the exam on your first try, you’re welcome to retake the exam by paying the fee for the additional attempt at your own expense. For the most up-to-date pricing, we recommend checking directly with NHA, as exam fees may change.
We are a licensed private school that is authorized to operate a non-degree granting institution through the state of Georgia. (GNPEC). We are aligned with NHA (National Healthcareers Association) for national certification testing. We are also a NHA exam testing site. You can take your exam at our school when you are done.
